The LAL requires more office visits than a standard lens, UV-protective glasses until treatments are complete, and a higher out-of-pocket cost, since insurance covers cataract surgery but not premium lens upgrades. If you want the fastest, simplest path and are comfortable with excellent rather than maximally precise vision, a standard, toric, or multifocal lens may serve you better, and Dr. Driver will tell you so.
